Garcia, Navarro's Florida Vet, to Serve 10 Months in Prison

Erica Garcia, a Florida-based veterinarian, admitted to injecting performance-enhancing drugs into horses trained by Jorge Navarro over a several-year period in the 2010s decade. She was sentenced to two terms of 10 months in prison, but will serve them concurrently. Garcia was also fined $2,000 and ordered to be under supervised release for a year after getting out of prison. Navaro is serving five years in jail. Other convicted veterinarians in this case got sentences between 3 and 11 years. The sentence falls on the lighter side of those meted out to most other convicted defendants in a wide-ranging international racehorse doping scandal.
