Maximum Security owner would welcome $10m loss to deter future dopers
Gary West supports a decision to strip his horse Maximum Security of victory in the 2020 Saudi Cup and redistribute the prize-money. Trainer Jason Servis was among 27 defendants charged with doping of thoroughbred and standard-bred racehorses. He is due to be sentenced on May 18, 2023. If he is disqualified, Midnight Bisou would be declared the winner and receive the $10m share of the purse. Benbatl, Mucho Gusto, Tacitus and Tacita would get promoted to second, third and fourth place and their share would increase to $3.5m for second place, $2m for third, and $1. 5m for fourth.
