Georgia Southern football team won the game against Appalachian State in double overtime, 51-48. The team was without several key players, including Jalen White, Gerald Green and LJ McCloud. Coach Clay Helton is not using injuries as an excuse. The players are aware the roster is thin, but they are happy to play more. They are grateful for the opportunity to show their skills. Kyle Vantrease is excited to watch them all go out and play. He is taking the 11 players he is with. "It's the next-man-up mentality," he says.

He's earned Sun Belt Conference and national weekly accolades with his performances.
