College football review: A year ago, USC dumped Clay Helton. Both sides are better off

Marshall upset No. 8 Notre Dame 26-21, Appalachian State beat No 6 Texas A&M 17-14. College football is getting better thanks to the expansion of the College Football Playoff. The Sun Belt champions would have a shot to win the national championship at year's end. Alabama lost to Texas, but a clavicle injury and a major officiating blunder kept the Longhorns from taking advantage. USC and UCLA left the Big Ten and the Southeastern Conference. They were replaced by the Sun Bowl and Group of Five conferences. It's about time the college football fans got some respect for the teams from the conferences they support.
