Georgia is the No. 1 team in the latest edition of the College Football Playoff Rankings. The Bulldogs are looking to play spoiler against an SEC East rival in Starkville, Mississippi. Georgia and Mississippi State have played just twice since 2012, with the Bulldogs winning 31-3 in Athens in 2017 and then winning again, 31 -24 in 2020.

Georgia is coming off a 27-13 victory over Tennessee. Mississippi State is playing its first game since the dismissal of Bryan Harsin. The Tigers came back from a 24-6 halftime deficit to beat Mississippi.  Jo'quavious Marks scored the winning score in overtime.

Georgia's pass rush is finally starting to come together. Georgia had just 10 sacks in the first eight games of the season. The team had six sacks against Tennessee. Javon Bullard had two sacks. Georgia has lost more than a dozen NFL Draft picks from a year ago. Mississippi State has only 13 sacks all season, compared to Georgia's 10.

Mississippi State is No. 11 in the league in red zone scoring with 25 scores on 27 opportunities (23 touchdowns, two field goals). Tennessee is also one of the best teams in FBS at scoring in Red Zone chances. Georgia forced a couple of field-goal attempts on Tennessee's early scoring chances and it changed the leverage in their game.

Georgia and Mississippi State are playing each other on Saturday.
