Enable bids to make history at Longchamp on Sunday by becoming the first horse to win the Arc three times in what will be her final race, regardless of the outcome.

The latest Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe odds have John Gosden’s superstar six-year-old trading at between 11/8 and 5/4 after Love (previously her chief rival in the betting) was withdrawn from the race at the final declaration stage.

Enable will have legions of backers, but, with the mare bidding to become only the second horse older than five to win the Arc in its history, there will also be those against her on value grounds as our tipster Enda McElhinney explains in his Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe betting tips.

However, if you get odds of 40/1 or 50/1 on Gosden’s two-time Arc winner, suddenly those misgivings about her price disappear. Here’s how you can do just that.

The draw

Love’s withdrawal from the race wasn’t the only bit of good news for Enable backers on Thursday. Her being allotted stall five was also a massive coup if recent trends are to be believed.

Across the last 18 runnings of the race 14 have gone the way of horses drawn in stall eight or lower, while 13 of those were won by runners berthed in stall six or lower.

The jockey

Enable couldn’t have a better partner in her bid for Arc immortality, with Frankie Dettori on board. The Italian ace has won the race six times, which is more than any other jockey, and was Enable’s jockey for both her victories.

The weights

Enable won’t be getting the massive weight concession she did when winning the race for the first time as a three-year-old filly in 2017. However her mares’ allowance still means she will carry 3lb less than seven of her rivals including the well-fancied Sottsass and her stablemate Stradivarius.
