Giants vs. Marlins prediction and odds for Tuesday, April 18 (Value on total)

The San Francisco Giants have dropped four straight games, falling to 5-10 on the season heading into Tuesday’s matchup against the Miami Marlins.

The Marlins, despite scoring just 53 runs in 17 games, are over .500 on the season at 9-8. That’s a testament to the club's great pitching, which they will need to lean on tonight.

Edward Cabrera (0-1, 4.63 ERA) gets the ball for Miami on Tuesday against the Giants’ Alex Wood (0-0, 1.17 ERA).

Here’s a look at the latest odds and my best bet for this game:

With the Giants struggling, I’m not sure if I want to bet on them to win tonight despite how well Wood has pitched so far this season.

Because of that, I’m looking to the total in this game, where I think there is some value on the UNDER.

No team in Major League Baseball has scored fewer runs per game than the Marlins, and now they have to face a starter that has allowed just one earned run across two starts this season.

Cabrera hasn’t been terrible either, pitching five innings of two-run ball in his last outing. However, he has struggled with walks early on in the season.

Miami enters this game with a solid OPS against left-handed pitching (eighth in MLB), but ultimately I don’t trust this team to have an offensive explosion against one of San Fran’s better arms.

Cabrera is coming off his best start of the season, so I’ll ride the hot hands on the mound and take the under.
