Giants vs White Sox Prediction

The Chicago White Sox will host the San Francisco Giants to close their three-game set this Thursday from Guaranteed Rate Field. The White Sox controlled game two behind the arm of Dylan Cease, and won by four, 7-3.

Giants Betting Preview

San Francisco is 2-3 after losing to Chicago on Wednesday. The Giants’ failed to muster any offense off of Cease, and they’ll look to avoid dropping a second straight series to open the season here. The San Francisco offense is scoring 4.40 runs per game, while batting .239, with a .335 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.76 ERA, with a 1.24 WHIP. David Villar totaled two homers and five RBI in the game one victory.

Alex Wood will make his first start of the year for San Francisco. The eleventh-year pitcher took a step back in 2022 after a strong first season in the Bay, posting a 8-12 record with a 5.10 ERA, and 131 strikeouts.

White Sox Betting Preview

Chicago is now 3-3 after defeating San Francisco in game two. The White Sox gave their ace the run support, and they climbed back to .500 with a balanced victory. The Chicago offense is 4.33 scoring runs per game, while batting .273, with a .328 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.67 ERA, with a 1.60 WHIP. Andrew Vaughn has recorded a RBI in each of the last three games, while Yoan Moncada has brought in a run in four of the last five contests.

Lance Lynn will take the mound for Chicago. The veteran hurler looked solid in his season debut, tossing six strikeouts in nearly as many innings of work against Houston on the road. Lynn did walk four batters, but he held his own versus the defending champs, and that’s a positive sign heading into his first home start of the season.

San Francisco vs Chicago Trends

San Francisco is 2-3 against the spread this season, with a 3-2 over/under record. Chicago is 3-3 ATS, with a 5-1 O/U record.

Corey's Free Pick

San Francisco’s inconsistency at the plate is noticeable early, and I feel like Lance Lynn can contain them at home. Now after struggling yesterday, the Giants should have more of a sense of urgency offensively, but the White Sox should still be able to match that energy at home. Alex Wood may struggle with this lineup for SFG in his season debut, as he carried a volatile 5.51 ERA on the road last season. Choose Chicago to win here Thursday.
