Gingras dominates Million Dollar Monday at Plainridge

It was Million Dollar Monday at Plainridge Park. Eight fields of finalists vied for $125,000 each to determine this year’s Massachusetts Sire Stakes harness racing champions. Rain and off-going greeted the horses but outstanding performances were still put forth.

Inter Mischief is Colt and Gelding Trotting Champion. Te Amo Lindy (Yannick Gingras) took early control in a speedy :27.4. Yo Lucky Moni (Jimmy Whittemore) drafted in second. Kevin Switzer Jr. pulled Inter Mischie from third to the lead by the three-quarters in 1:27:4 and they trotted to victory by 2-½ lengths in :56.3.

Pembroke Moni won the Filly Trotting Champion. The Wise One got off to a fast start from post eight and took the early lead. Milliondollarwall (Yannick Gingras) was charging on the outside and grabbed the front in the third quarter. PemrokeMoni came back and held off a closing ThewiseOne to win by a length in 1:57.3.

Rooster Bennett won the race. Good Will Lindy and Luke McGook were second and third. It was raining heavily. The race was won by Rooster Bennet by 2-½ lengths in 1:54.3.

Gingras dominates Million Dollar Monday at Plainridge. Striking Impact (Yannick Gingras) took command in :26.2. Treacherous Tom (Bruce Ranger) kept the pace brisk with a :55. 2 half. As they entered the stretch, Trecherous Toms was still in control but Gingra's horse caught the favorite and won by one-half length in 1:53.1.

Bill Bauer is the Colt and Gelding Trotting Champion. Moni’s Heaven Cent, Strongerwithlindy and Bill Bauer got away one-two-three in the field of seven. Gingras tipped Bill from third heading into the backstretch and drew alongside Mona's Heaven. Cent. Bill took the lead and won by three-quarters of a length in a lifetime best 1:56.

Dudes Sweet Bet won the Filly Pacing Champion. John Macdonald left with Dudes and took the lead from the pylon-starting Wolverina. Shakeitoffscarlet faded and Dude Sweetbet ran down Wolverine at the wire to win by two lengths in 1:54.3.

Racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Thursday (Oct. 27) at 2 p.m. There will be a large carryover of $14,319 in the sixth race Jackpot Wicked Hi-5 pentafecta. Free past performance race programs for all live race days can be downloaded from the track’s website.
