Saturday’s Race Recap from Belmont at Aqueduct:

(All odds US)

Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 2: 2nd@ 0.70/1

Race 8: 2nd@ 3.05/1

Race 9: 4th@ 3.90/1

In Race 2, Value Area was bet down to 3/5 favoritism off a ridiculous 7/2 morning line. She broke last after hitting the gate then ranged up on the outside - against the inside-favoring track bias and battled gamely to the wire while falling a neck short. In Race 8, the returning Cascais shot to the front and set the pace. He had the lead until mid-stretch when he was passed and he battled on gamely for second. In Race 9, Tavin battled with the pace and gave way in the drive.

Saturday’s Race Recap from Keeneland:

(All odds US)

Keeneland:

Race 5: 2nd@ 2.33/1

Race 6: 3rd@ 7.62/1

Race 9: 2nd@ 0.90/1

In Race 5, Sweet Gal of Mine sat off the pace and made her move entering the stretch on the debuting first time starter. She passed her just before the wire but missed the head-bob in a sickening beat. In Race 6, Post Time ran his race today and finally got his test. A little studdish in the paddock, he was a little closer to the pace than usual and that may have put a damper on his closing kick. He closed mildly for third and in doing so he defeated two Kentucky Derby entrants losing by a little more than a length. In Race 9, Alva Starr shot to the lead and held on until the final strides where she was reeled in by Vahva.

Four second place finishes, including one by a nose, and a third from six selections on the day isn’t an easy feat to accomplish, but today I specialized in silver medals.

Let’s close out our week with a race day at Aqueduct. I’m expecting to be off the turf again. Let’s make some money!!!

Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 8: Ninetyprcentmaddie - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 3/1)

Our feature race is the Carle Place for three-year-olds at six furlongs on turf which will likely be run on the main track because of all the rain we’ve had. Most bettors will gravitate to Super Chow who’s won 6 of 12 starts sprinting and is our 9/5 morning line favorite but I’m kinda sick of this horse and I feel like we know who he is. While he’s won 6 of 12 starts, he’s also lost his last four and got most of his wins beating up on softer competition last fall and winter. Ninetyprcentmaddie was my selection last time out in a sloppy rendition of the Grade 2 Gallant Bob but the mud proved his undoing. He’s still been running against better horses than anyone else in here so he’s got the class edge and I think he’s a better sprinter than router which is what he’s spent most of his time this year doing. I think he reels in Super Chow for the win today.
