Wednesday’s Race Recap from Churchill Downs:

(All Odds US)

Churchill Downs:

Race 2: SCRATCH

Race 4: 1st@ 8.00/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Race 6: SCRATCH

Race 9: 10th@ 4.20/1

Ugh! A pair of scratches to start the week. In Race 4 Anna’s Wish rocketed from the gates, put two lengths on the field from the start and never looked back winning in gate-to-wire fashion at 8/1 odds. In Race 9 Sarah’s Dream stalked and faded in the drive.

My original plan was to move to Belmont at Aqueduct for Thursday’s races but with all the rain the track and turf course took in between Friday and Tuesday I’m going to give them another day to dry out. They’ve got a Grade 1 turf stake this weekend and I’m pretty sure they want to save their turf course for the big races. Instead we’ll take another look at Churchill Downs where we have a little AM rain in the forecast, but it shouldn’t be enough to impact our racing. Let’s get to work!

Churchill Downs:

Race 7: Injunction - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 3/1)

Allowance/optional claimers race a mile and a sixteenth and like Race 5 this is another race without much pace. Injunction looks to inject some pace and the last time he was sent to the lead he battled future Grade 1 winner West Will Power into defeat. After that he raced another bang-up race in the Grade 3 Ack Ack where he dueled Grade 1 winner Speaker’s Corner and multiple stakes winning Surly Furious into defeat while holding off all closers except for multiple Graded stakes winner Senor Buscador. He was given time off after the Grade 1 Clark and came back with a bang-up effort on turf where he fought hard against the ultra-game Wolfie’s Dynaghost. When he’s able to dictate terms or at least be within a length of the early lead this horse is dangerous and I’m not sure I see much pace pressure for him today. He loves Churchill Downs and goes turf to dirt today after just working five furlongs and looks like value at 3/1 or higher.
