Thursday’s Race Recap from Belmont at Aqueduct:

(All odds US)

Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 2: 2nd@ 4.60/1

Race 7: 4th@ 7.50/1

Another second-place finish to begin our day as Foxy Cara was moving best late but couldn’t catch the winner. In Race 7, From Hello raced behind horses early and tried switching out too late. It wasn’t enough and she checked in fourth.

Let’s take a look at Friday’s races from Aqueduct to kick off our weekend on a winning note!

Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 9: Highland Lord - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)

Maidens who are three-year-olds and up, sprint six furlongs on turf. Alexis Zorba will take plenty of attention at the windows based on his narrow defeat last time out and top connections, but today he should face pace pressure early from Cigarette Boat. I’m opting for Highland Lord who breaks from the rail off a January 7 layoff for trainer Barclay Tagg. This three-year-old daughter of Lord Nelson is out of the dam Kristi with a K who was a three-time turf winner and stakes placed runner for these very connections. Highland Lord is a half-brother to HighlandSky who was a multiple stakes winner on turf and damn near won the Grade 1 Belmont Derby back in 2016. He’s also a half to Highland Glory who also has a stakes win to her credit along with two stakes placings on turf so we know that the bloodlines are there. Highland Lord has been working well for his return from a debut effort that saw him battle early between horses before checking late while tiring. He gets Lasix for the first time and I look for him to fire fresh off the bench.
