God's Tipster's Wednesday Churchill Downs Pick: The 9th, a sprint for pricey claimers, has one ready to Crush

We’re back for a pre-Thanksgiving week of racing here in the US. We’re expecting quite a change in temperature at Churchill Downs for Wednesday with a high of 68 degrees during the day and a low of 39 but I’m handicapping for a fast, main track. I’ll hold off on turf racing for Wednesday because they took them off the turf for no reason on Sunday so there’s a chance they may do it again Wednesday. Let’s get to work!

Churchill Downs:

Race 9: Catalina Crush - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 7/2)

High-priced maiden claimers sprint 6½ furlongs and there are a few in here that are going to take money that have similar running styles. Stormy Mesa and Spin the Boulevard both finished second, beaten less than a length in their respective debuts after battling and would be favored in most races like this. Brad Cox also has a second time starter named Charleston that will take some money. I’m actually siding with the morning line favorite, but I think we might get higher than the 7/2 odds he’s been given on the morning line by post time. Catalina Crush will be making his fourth career start today giving him an experience edge over most of these. Last time out at Keeneland he ran into a buzzsaw debut runner named Knicks Storm. He still ran on well finishing 7 lengths clear of the third-place finisher and I really liked the way he leveled out in the drive. Two works since that last start for a trainer who’s 4 for 7 at the meet have me optimistic about this one’s chances at 7/2 or higher.
