Golf Betting: Ryder Cup 2023 Betting Tips and Preview

The anticipation is over as we gear up for the 44th Ryder Cup, hosted this year at Rome's Marco Simone Colosseum.

“Gladiators, ready”, 24 to be exact as the Europeans take on the Americans over three days from Friday until Sunday when we will know who’s won the Ryder Cup 2023.

Earlier today I recorded a brief Podcast previewing the tournament which you can listen to here.

If your a stats person then you’ll be siding with the Europeans due to the fact that the Americans haven’t won on European soil since 1993 at The Belfry & also seven of the past eight editions have been won by the home team but we all know that stats can go out the window & count for nothing at these high profile events.

Ryder Cup 2023 Teams

Let’s delve into the teams competing in the Ryder Cup 2023;

Luke Donald will captain Team Europe with Zach Johnson at the helm for Team USA.

When it comes to Ryder Cup betting, the options may seem limited, you just need to look at the markets available at the moment, very limited with outright winner , team points, & player points etc. It’s always wise to tread carefully pre tournament especially with players total points etc as we don’t yet know how many matches that player will be participating in. We won’t know who’s paired up or playing against each other until Thursday when the first matchup’s are announced so again my advice is be careful pre-tournament.

For the Ryder Cup, Marco Simone Golf & Country Club will stretch to 7,268 yards long this week, it’s a par 71 Parkland layout that’s going to be even tougher with the European’s request that the rough be thicker & deeper than usual & believe me when I say it certainly is.

This will demand accuracy from Tee to Green & then the putter takes over, expect sixty-foot putts or more to sink & win holes to the delight of whoever you are supporting.

Team USA are the defending champions having won this event in emphatic style at Whistling Straits in 2021. It wasn’t even close in the end with the Americans coming out victorious 19-9.

The Ryder Cup weather forecast promises sunny and warm conditions; to be sunny, pleasant & warm throughout with breezes not posing any problems peaking at no more than 10mph.

Catch all the Ryder Cup action on Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event with live coverage starting at 6 a.m. on Thursday morning for the early birds.

I’m going to post one pre-tournament selection but if you join my channel on Telegram by clicking the link below then you’ll have the luxury of daily posts & specials when we know what’s what?

I’ve done all my homework so I’m expecting good results over the weekend.

Ryder Cup Betting Tips

So let’s crack on with my free tip for this years Ryder Cup.

We rarely get a WDW market for any golf tournament so it’s best to treat this market like a football match. Just like a football match home support comes into play and this week at the Marco Simone will be no different.

Then you have to weigh up the facts as pointed out above the past seven out of eight Ryder Cups have been won on home soil & will the Americans be able to break that 30 year hoodoo on European Soil.

You could call this the Rookie Ryder Cup with so many debutants but I have a feeling that the Europeans are slightly stronger in this department backed up by their leader Rory McIlroy. We also have in our favour two players who have won on this Marco Simone track, both rookies. Bob MacIntyre in 2022 & Nicolai Hojgaard in 2021.

I just feel that the Europeans will be much better prepared than last time out at Whistling Straits & revenge will be sweet this time with the Europeans having a score to settle. Course management will definitely come into play & There are another few of the European teams that have faired well at the Marco Simone Colosseum, Matt Fitzpatrick & Tommy Fleetwood have been runners up here in the past with Rory finishing 4th in 2022 having led at halfway.

Getting back to the football element, from a betting angle this is more like Celtic vs Rangers or Man City vs Man Utd, anything can happen & be sure it will with all the thrills & spills in an exciting weekend of golf but if my heart not ruling my head then I’d expect the European Team to come out victorious & it’s them who’ll celebrate on Sunday evening in Rome and all around Europe & beyond.

I certainly hope so.
