Haaland, Saliba and the Premier League Team of the Season so far

The 2022-23 Premier League season is halfway through. The World Cup is coming up. GOAL picks the best combined XI from the opening months of the campaign.

GOAL has selected its Team of the Season so far. Goalkeeper Nick Pope has been instrumental in Newcastle's success this season. Kieran Trippier has played well since Newcastle took over. William Saliba has impressed for Arsenal this term. He has scored and assisted several goals. He is also the best defender in the Premier League so sofar. Erling Haaland is a cyborg. The team is made up of players from the new and established leagues. It is the first time GOAL's Team has included all the players. They are: goalkeeper NickPope, defender Kierans Tripper, midfielder Erlings Haarand, striker William saliba, and defender Ben White.

Nick Pope has been instrumental in Newcastle's defensive performance this season. Kieran Trippier has returned from injury well and is a key player for Newcastle. William Saliba has made up for lost time at Arsenal. Lisandro Martinez has improved a lot since joining Manchester United.  He is the best defender in the Premier League so far. He has scored two goals and assisted one. His performance has earned him a place in GOAL's Team of the Season. The team also includes Ben White, who is also in it. It also features the likes of Jack Wilshere, Jack Butland and Luke Shaw.
