Heat at Hornets Prediction

The Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets duke it out at the Spectrum Center on Saturday night.

The Miami Heat have been a little below their best lately as they’ve lost six of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to put a halt to a three-game skid after getting routed by the Bucks in a 128-99 road loss last night. Jimmy Butler led the team with 23 points on eight of 10 shooting, Bam Adebayo added 18 points while Caleb Martin chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Heat shot just 39 percent from the field and nine of 40 from the 3-point line, but they didn’t come out looking to play defense which meant they were always fighting a losing battle after allowing 73 points in the first half. Victor Oladipo had a rough game as he scored just two points on one of seven shooting while Kevin Love finished scoreless on zero of four shooting in his debut.

Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets look to have moved on from their seven-game skid as they are now gunning for a fourth straight victory after beating the Timberwolves in a 121-113 road win last night. LaMelo Ball led the team with 32 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, Gordon Hayward added 27 points with 13 rebounds and five assists while PJ Washington chipped in with 20 points and eight rebounds. As a team, the Hornets shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 72 points in the first half to build an early 11-point lead, but they lost the lead and had to close the final 3:35 on a 14-4 run to escape with the narrow win in the end.

Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Hornets are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days rest and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.

Head to head, the under is 24-10 in the last 34 meetings in Charlotte and the Heat are 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.

The Heat will be shorthanded once again as Kyle Lowry and Nikola Jovic are still out, while the Hornets are still missing Cody Martin and Theo Maledon. The Heat have been struggling lately and their confidence took a major hit after getting blown off the floor by the Bucks last night, while the Hornets have come to life with three wins on the trot and they looked good in last night’s upset win over the Timberwolves. I would usually be all over the Heat to cover this short line, but the Hornets have been playing well enough for me to think they can pull off the upset at home in this spot.
