Holiday Bowl Countdown to Kickoff: UNC-Oregon

Oregon is playing in the Holiday Bowl. UNC's offensive coordinator Phil Longo and offensive line coach Jack Bicknell Jr. have left to take the same jobs at Wisconsin. Receivers coach Lonnie Galloway will call the Tar Heels’ plays in Wednesday night”s bowl game. Oregon's defensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham has been hired as Arizona State's head coach. Carolina's secondary is changing a lot, with Marcus Allen starting at one cornerback spot and Will Hardy making his second start at safety. It's a homecoming game for UNC safety Don Chapman.

The Holiday Bowl is Wednesday night. The Tar Heels are considered a 13-point favorite. It's the sixth time the game is played in the downtown ballpark. Both teams have had a difficult season. UNC started 9-1 and won the Coastal Division, but then lost three games in a row. Oregon had an 8-2 record, then dropped two of its last three. Maye is the ACC Player of the Year, and Nix is a fourth-ranked quarterback. The game will be played at the San Diego Padres' baseball stadium. They have visited the zoo and the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier.
