Victor Wembanyama, the highly anticipated No. 1 pick, is scheduled to make his debut appearance in the NBA Summer League this Friday. With a full house in attendance, his San Antonio Spurs will take on the Charlotte Hornets. Continue reading to discover our forecast for the exciting matchup with our Hornets-Spurs prediction, based on the top NBA odds.

NBA scouts have been eagerly awaiting this moment for years. Victor Wembanyama has been hailed as one of the greatest prospects to ever enter the NBA, and some analysts are already preparing to call him and inform him of his future induction into the Hall of Fame.

The pressure will be high not only for Wembanyama on Friday but also for the 2023 NBA Draft's second overall pick, Brandon Miller. They enter this must-watch matchup first and fourth, respectively, by the NBA Rookie of the Year odds.

Will Wembanyama put on a show in his first NBA Summer League game?

Here is our best Hornets-Spurs prediction (odds via ourbest NBA betting sites; pick confidence  based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

The Wembanyama hype train will be running in full force on Friday night, but rest assured it won't affect my approach to betting this matchup. FanDuel offers the Hornets at +6.5 with odds of -120, while bet365 has them at +6 (-110). By opting for DraftKings, I can get the same juice but with an additional half point, at +6.5 (-110).

The fact that bet365 has adjusted its line to +6 (-110) is also a positive sign for those supporting the Hornets. The line is moving in the right direction, and we can still secure it at +6.5 (-110) via DraftKings.

Another reason I feel confident backing the Hornets is that, despite it being his debut, I don't expect Wembanyama to log many minutes for the Spurs on Friday. The Spurs organization is known for pioneering load management, and there were even rumors a few weeks ago suggesting Wembanyama might not play in the Summer League at all.

Furthermore, the Hornets have something to prove, especially Miller. He hasn't performed well in his initial NBA Summer League games, and you can bet that facing the first overall pick will add a personal touch to the matchup. With Miller, a backcourt comprising Nick Smith Jr. and James Bouknight, the Hornets possess more than enough firepower to cover the 6.5-point spread.

Hornets vs. Spurs best odds

DraftKings  (-110)

This was not even a contest when DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM were the only three of our best sports betting sites to post odds for this game. Now, the best line can be found at DraftKings, BetMGM, and Caesars, which is why I'm betting the Hornets to cover the spread in Wembanyama's debut for the Spurs on Friday.

Placing this bet carries a sense of urgency because the market will not allow DraftKings to maintain this price indefinitely. DraftKings (and the others) will likely adjust its odds to align with bet365 unless it's flooded with an overwhelming amount of wagers favoring Wembanyama, which is a possibility.
