The future of the NBA has arrived, as we dive into our favorite player props involving Victor Wembanyama and Luka Doncic ahead of Wednesday's season opener between the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs based on the best NBA odds.

On Wednesday, the San Antonio Spurs host the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA regular-season debut of rookie big man Victor Wembanyama. Many view Wembanyama as the best prospect since LeBron James, although Mavs guard Luka Doncic certainly entered the league with plenty of hype on his way to winning Rookie of the Year in 2018-19. Wemanyama is the consensus NBA Rookie of the Year favorite for 2023-24.

The season opener could feature a matchup between two of the NBA's most promising young stars. Doncic's availability for the showdown is in question due to a calf injury, but there are plenty of betting angles for this game involving Wemby. Victor Wembanyama player props

Victor Wembanyama Over 1.5 first-quarter rebounds (-115 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

We have seen the market steam Wembanyama's rebound prop ahead of his debut, pushing the total from roughly 5.5 up to 6.5. You'd have to pay as much as -120 on the current Over, as the best of the number is long gone as well as the juicy odds on his alternate rebounding lines.

Instead, we are taking a discounted number by betting on him to make an immediate impact on the glass. bet365 has set his first-quarter rebound line at 1.5, with both the Over and the Under priced at -115 on each side.

Wembanyama wasn't too much of a factor on the glass in the preseason, recording 19 total rebounds in 84 minutes of action across four games. But there are serious concerns regarding the Mavericks' frontcourt once again. According to CleaningtheGlass, Dallas ranked last in offensive rebound rate a season ago.

It's easy to get caught up in the Wemby highlights on both ends of the floor, but don't be surprised if rebounding is a point of emphasis in Game 1, especially in the opening minutes as a way to settle any nerves.

This is another prop that was steamed on Tuesday, which speaks to the excitement regarding Wembanyama. This particular prop is playable at -150 or better, but we also don't mind using this angle in any same-game parlays for Wednesday's NBA action.

Wembanyama committed multiple turnovers in three of his four preseason games, which could become a theme for a rookie big man with his level of usage. Opposing teams are likely to send an extra defender whenever Wembanyama touches the rock, and it's up to him to make the right decision when that happens.

We expect there to be growing pains amid the highlight-worthy plays, so that's why it's worth eating a bit of juice to take this Over. This same Over is priced at -160 on DraftKings, suggesting this Tuesday afternoon number won't last long.

Luka Doncic player props

Luka Doncic Under 29.5 points (-120 via Barstool) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Now that we have props for Doncic (questionable), the market is moving Doncic's points prop as of Wednesday morning. His scoring total has dropped from 29.5 to 28.5 at the best sports betting apps, so we are taking advantage of the lone shop still hanging a 29.5 by shopping around.

Doncic appeared in just three preseason games, and never played more than 19 minutes in any contest. He scored 25 points in the preseason opener, but recorded a combined 27 points in the other two outings.

When talking to reporters on Tuesday, Doncic admitted that he wasn't sure if he'd play after practicing two days in a row. There is a chance the Mavs take it easy with their star, which could result in this bet being voided.

But we project Doncic to finish with around 27 points, giving us a solid edge on this Under at 29.5. Perhaps Doncic will defer a bit more to Kyrie Irving, who also has a scoring prop of 29.5 ahead of the season opener.
