Horse race betting bill passes Ky. House
The system most commonly used to bet on horse races in Kentucky would receive a tax overhaul under a bill passed by the House. House Bill 607 would establish a single tax rate of 1.5% for pari-mutuel wagering in the state. The bill also passed 66-29 and now moves to the Senate. The House also approved a problem gaming assistance fund for awareness, prevention and treatment for gambling addiction. It was originally proposed to use a $225 million settlement from PokerStars to establish the fund, but it was cut to $50 million.
