This should be straightforward for ASHWIYAA who held her own in a Group 2 Curragh event won by a smart filly from Ballydoyle. Special Angel is from an increasingly influential stable and is a half-sister to a Norfolk Stakes winner. Smart Impression and Making Time have picked up Pattern race experience.

An unchanged mark of 91 following her Fairyhouse second gives QUEEN MAEDBH (nap) a possible edge over several useful older rivals, notably Dandyville, a C&D winner on his final two 2022 visits, and Harry’s Bar whose win in this race last year was obtained off 4lb higher. Hispanic has off-putting form figures but should not be written off.

Ger Lyons has a strong contender in AGIA who weakened into third in a 1m maiden here last month. Lyons should have a good idea of what will be needed to cope with Roman Harry, claimed out of his yard after a debut third over 1m2f at Fairyhouse. Not Forgotten is a likely danger on his third here prior to a Tipperary failure. Signatory has a similar profile, one promising run at this track and a less encouraging turf run.

Group 2 entrant NOR TIME NOR TIDE chased home a smart sort at Killarney and can get the better of Huxley and Ballydoyle newcomer Canute.

He’s drawn wider than ideal but NUMIDIA come here in good form and can gain a second C&D success. There was little between lightly-raced three-year-olds Lasting Peace and Queen Mab at Bellewstown and both merit consideration as well.

Plenty with chances but ALFARIDA was beaten by the narrowest of margins here last month and can go one better. The Bog Bank and Fleetfootsoldier both have good records at this venue and can contend.

Michael Halford runs two with chances and, although Ronan Whelan is on Ceallach, last year’s winner GOLDENTWILIGHT makes plenty of appeal. Even though Colin Keane’s mount is a lot higher in the ratings this time around, and may ideally prefer a longer trip, he comes into this in good form.

Colin Keane is a significant booking for BRIGHT N SHINE whose last two outings on turf provide grounds for thinking he can win a race of this standard. Likely dangers include Kartayaz, French Company and Curious Bride.
