ITV Saturday gets under way here with a Group 3 sprint over 5f. This is wide open. EQUALITY is improving all the time and with no blasters in the high numbers might be able to get a prominent position pretty easily from stall 4. He’s like the good night out horse – he can do it from the front and behind – and was tremendous in lesser grade last time at Windsor. He needs to take another step forward here but is one of the few in this that might do so under William Buick for Charlie Hills.

ITV also go to Haydock Saturday starting with this handicap over 1m6f. They will go a good pace here. CINNODIN could not follow up a Sandown victory at the same track last time but that only tells half the story. He actually did well having been carried right over 3f out when with plenty to do. Eventually he got going and wasn’t disgraced at all. With a mark of 74 he lacks a bit of class for a race like this, but he’s bang in form, comes from the very much going well Richard Hughes yard, and George Rooke takes the mount for a big pay day. Each way claims under just 8st 2lb and if it rains that is no issue.

A handicap over 1m. Another tricky event. I really like the look of MAYSONG under young 7lb apprentice Tommie Jakes. His stall in 9 is fine and while he’s up 4lb for a shock victory at this track two runs ago his effort at Hamilton last time suggested he can cope with the rise. He didn’t get a clear run 2f out that day but kept on really well and will enjoy a stronger gallop in this event. Tommie is obviously inexperienced against some of the best in the world here but a 7lb apprentice was on top for the previous Sandown success.

A Group 2 here in the Lancashire Oaks over 1m4f. Hard to get away from MIMIKYU who is not a horse I massively like but who should be good enough here for Robert Havlin and John & Thady Gosden. The daughter of Dubawi made a reasonable comeback when second at York back in May. Since then she missed an engagement at this tracksuit has good form here in the past.

Here’s a Listed race for three-year-old fillies over 1m. I’m happy to stick with STETON GLIDER here for Hugo Palmer and Andrea Atzeni. The lightly-raced daughter of Dandy Man looked useful in one win as a juvenile and returned with a fine second to Remarquee in the Fred Darling. She wasn’t good enough for the 1000 Guineas when down the field but was back to decent form in Germany last time when second in a Group 2. Goes on any ground and stays a mile well.

A nice betting race in the Old Newton Cup Handicap over 1m4f. GAASSEE should have won this off 101 last year and now has a handicap mark of 99 with Adam Farragher taking off another 2lb. Now it takes a leap of faith backing him as he’s been hopeless in two runs this term since being gelded for William Haggas. That said he was bang there to 2f out at Ascot last time over 1m6f and might have needed his poor debut at Newbury which was the first effort after the gelding operation. If anywhere near back to form he’s well handicapped and massive odds. I’ll risk him each way.

The big race of the day in the Group 1 Eclipse over 1m2f. Pretty desperate to have just four runners even if two of them are class acts. EMILY UPJOHN is unbeaten at about this trip and might just get first run on Paddington if he’s ridden for pace to get the trip.

We know the John & Thady Gosden runner stays this trip very strong as he’s done well at 1m4f including when quickening clear to land the Coronation Cup last time. With West Wind Blows likely to get an easy lead she can sit second and pounce first on the leader who will probably outrun his odds. William Buick takes the ride with Frankie Dettori suspended.

So best off luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
