Horse racing tips: Templegate's best World Pool bets for King George day at Ascot

WORLD POOL is back at Ascot on Saturday offering big value for British punters.

Developed and run by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, it is operated by the Tote in this country and punters from 28 racing nations are now able to bet into one big pool.

That usually means bigger payouts – and there are seven different bets on offer.

You can have a straight Win or Place, a Quinella, Swinger, Exacta, Trifecta and Treble where you pick the winner in three selected races – across the five days.

My personal favourite is a Swinger where we are trying to pick two of the first three past the post in any order. You can have a combination Swinger which includes more than two horses.

If you have three running for you it costs £3 and four horses is £6 but you can go bigger if you fancy it.

If any two of your picks finish in the first three home, you get a payout.

It won’t be easy but let’s have a crack at the big-field International Stakes at 3.00.

We’ll definitely have three horses running for us and, if two of them are in the first three home, it’s a payout.

I like the look of Ramazan who is improving fast for Richard Fahey. He’s in along with Biggles who was impressive when winning the Bunbury Cup over this distance at Newmarket last time out.

Let’s make Baradar our third contender as he’ll be right at home on this ground.

A Quinella is the same as a reverse forecast so your two runners must be first and second past the post in any order. Again, you can increase your chances by picking more than two horses.

Having three in your Quinella will cost £3 and we’ll have a crack at the King George (3.40). I like last year’s winner Pyledriver along with Emily Upjohn and Hukum who is a major player after all the rain that has hit Ascot.
