HorseCenter: Kentucky Derby, Oaks top 10 rankings
This week on HorseCenter, Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman reveal their current top 10 rankings for both Kentucky Derby 2024 and the Kentucky Oaks. With only seven weeks to go before the classic races at Churchill Downs, see who your hosts rate the highest.
The road to the Kentucky Derby moves along with only nine more opportunities for Derby hopefuls to pick up the needed points to qualify for the run for the roses on the first Saturday in May. Matt and Brian feel like the winner of the Derby is on their top 10 list as these horses probably will make their final starts in one of the eight prep races that offer the top points of 100-50-25-15-10.
The same could be said for the Kentucky Oaks, which will be run on the first Friday in May. Horses for top trainers such as Bill Mott, Brad Cox, D. Wayne Lukas and Richard Mandella are represented on the Oaks list.
