Houston's 'Mattress Mack' lost $13 million in bets after Astros World Series loss and says he'd do it again
Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale bet a lot on the World Series and lost. He promised to give free mattresses to customers who spent more than $3,000 on certain purchases if the Astros won. The team lost the game 6-2 to the Washington Nationals. Mc Ingvale is famous in Houston for his TV commercials and his generosity. He turned his stores into shelters for people displaced by Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and by flooding from Tropical Storm Imelda in September. In 2017 he refunded $10 million to his customers. His company Scarlet Pearl Casino in Mississippi took $700,00 in bets on Wednesday's game.
