How did professional cyclists from London perform in 2022
It was two years to the day on Tuesday since Tao Geoghegan Hart won the 2020 Giro d’Italia. London-born professional road cyclists have risen to prominence in recent years. SWLondoner is reviewing how four of them performed in 2022.
Professional cyclists from London performed well in 2022.
Ethan Hayter won Tour of Britain in 2022. He also won the Tour de Romandie prologue and Tour De Pologne. Hayer started his first Grand Tour at La Vuelta a España in August, but it was cancelled due to Covid.
Pfeiffer Georgi is a 22-year-old British cyclist. She is currently riding for Team DSM. Georgis won the British National Road Race Championships last year. Her season started well in the spring classics, coming 4th at Dwars door Vlaanderen and 9th in Paris-Roubaix.
Fred Wright is a product of Herne Hill Velodrome. Wright rode both the Tour de France and La Vuelta this summer. He finished 7th at Tour of Flanders.
Flora Perkins moved up the ranks through Velo Club Londres and rode her first senior season for British team Le Col – Wahoo. Perkins, 19, finished the season at one-day races in Belgium and France. Thomas Gloag and Leo Hayter signed on to ride for Jumbo-Visma and INEOS Grenadiers respectively until 2025.
