How Far Can Frank Take Brentford?

Since arriving in the world of English football back in 2016, Thomas Frank’s stock has risen immensely. The Dane guided Brentford to the promised land, and the plucky Bees have been mixing it with the Premier League’s big boys ever since. How far can they go under the popular Frank?

In their second season in England’s top flight, the Londoners have grown even stronger, with the possibility of sneaking into Europe an exciting prospect for the fans. They have been in great form this term, beating the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool along the way.

Outright Odds

Brentford will fancy their chances of breaking into the European places this season. They are well and truly in the mix, with Betfair currently offering Premier League betting odds of 19/1 for the Bees to finish in the top six. Brentford is in no danger of going down (66/1), and the fans can enjoy the remainder of the season.

How the Love Story Started

When Frank first arrived at Griffin Park, he was appointed as assistant head coach alongside Richard O’Reilly in 2016. Dean Smith left and Frank was promoted to first-team head coach in October 2018.

It was a difficult start for Frank in the managerial hot seat, as he picked up just one win from his opening ten games in charge. Despite pressure from the fans, the board stuck with him, and Frank slowly but surely started turning the screw. Shortly after, he won the Championship Manager of the Month award in January 2019.

Brentford was making progress at an incredible pace, and the west London outfit looked like a good bet for promotion in the 2019-20 season. However, they were beaten in the play-off final by rivals Fulham.

Brentford licked their wounds and came back even stronger the year after. Frank made some shrewd signings in the summer window, and the Bees flirted with the automatic places all season. They missed an automatic promotion, but this time they made no mistake in the playoffs.

In front of just over 10,000 at Wembley Stadium, Brentford beat Welsh side Swansea City in the Championship play-off final. First-half goals from the prolific Ivan Toney and Danish ace Emiliano Marcondes were enough for a 2-0 victory.

Brentford Lock Down Frank

Frank has turned himself into one of the most popular managers in the Premier League. Despite interest from elsewhere, Frank has remained loyal to Brentford and both parties have benefited.

The boss has demanded a certain style of football since day one, and the Bees have been very easy on the eye over the past few seasons, in the Championship and the Premier League.

All good things must come to an end, and Frank certainly deserves a crack at an elite club. For now, though, Frank and Brentford are a match made in heaven, and the boss recently signed a new and improved contract until 2027. The sky is the limit for the Bees while Frank remains in the dugout, and big things could lie ahead at the Gtech Community Stadium.
