Howe responds to Shearer's Fernandez transfer plea and apologises for snubbing Newcastle icon & BBC pundit to watch ITV

Alan Shearer suggested that Newcastle should sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. Diego Howe is not keen on the idea. He was watching the World Cup final on BBC at the time. Howe had a meeting with the club's owners and sporting director Dan Ashworth during the break for the tournament. He thinks signing players off the back of an international tournament is a bad idea and he doesn't think you should just sign them off of the basis of their performances.

Howe has seen a large amount of investment in players since taking over from Steve Bruce last season. Newcastle have spent over £200 million on players. Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak are recovering from injuries. The Newcastle manager apologises for snubbing Shearer and BBC pundit to watch ITV.
