Hull Derby predictions as pundits split on winner with FC and KR both tipped

Here we are again. Another Hull KR v Hull FC clash in Super League is upon us. A game that is almost impossible to call, but we will have a go anyway! After asking pundits from Hull Live and BBC Radio Humberside, here are a few predictions ahead of Sunday's cross-city derby.

Joe Appleyard - Hull KR reporter

I agree with everything Willie Peters said in his press conference. The game will be won down the middle. I fear FC might have too much with Rovers missing the likes of James Batchelor, Sauaso Sue and Elliot Minchella. However, these games can bring out the best in players. Rovers will be annoyed at last week's effort, and Sunday is the perfect chance to get back on track. They must start faster and have more bottle about them, with FC wanting revenge.

Prediction: Hull KR by 8

Dan Tomlinson - Hull FC reporter

Hull FC are in better form and will fancy their chances. They've been effort based in recent weeks, and their attitude and spirit have been the top draw. But there's also the quality to go with it and a good brand of attack that's easy on the eye.

If Hull gets that clicking with Jake Trueman and Jake Clifford pulling the strings, then they'll be hard to beat. Tex Hoy could also be back, and he'll want to silence a few noises.

Hull's approach needs to be right, and they have to start fast, but if they stick to their recent principles and pile the pressure on, then they will get the outcome they desire, although up against a Rovers team looking to get back on track, it won't be easy, far from it. It's a derby game, and you never know what you're going to get.

Prediction: Hull FC by 8.

Matthew Shaw - Rugby League Live

There are a number of factors at play here, which means you can come to multiple different conclusions. The Black and Whites come into the game in better form, but Rovers have shown more over the season. Brad Schneider in the shadows puts pressure on Mikey Lewis and Rowan Milnes to perform too.

I'm going KR, just. They look to me like the teams beating them are the ones with more dynamic packs, and while Chris Satae is the epitome of that, FC could be without Scott Taylor's punch and are missing Josh Griffin's strike. Good players replace them but not bringing those qualities. So I'm edging towards a narrow Hull KR win.

Prediction: Hull KR by 4

Richard Stead - BBC Radio Humberside

This seems much tougher to predict than Good Friday. In the last couple of months, Hull FC have been on the up and have put in some eye-catching performances against some fancied teams. Rovers have had a difficult run but remain very capable on their day and have an excellent recent home record in this fixture. I think Hull look like the safer proposition at the moment.

Prediction: Hull FC by 10

Joshua Cook - BBC Radio Humberside

Revenge is a dish best served cold, and if Hull wants to serve it, now would be a good time to keep their playoff hopes alive.

This derby feels a lot closer in terms of team performance. Rovers have tailed off a little with discipline and errors, while Hull has shown glimpses of potential in the last month or so.

Both of these sides are riding the rollercoaster this year up and down in the league, with plenty of twists and turns still to come.

It's a Hull win for me, having a full squad, but it'll still be a contest with the patched-up Robins side.
