India vs Australia 3rd ODI: Expected lineups, head-to-head, predictions and betting odds

The third and final ODI of the three-match series between India and Australia is all set to take place in Rajkot on September 27.

It is a dead-rubber as India have already clinched the series 2-0. KL Rahul-led India won the series-opener in Mohali by five wickets and achieved a magnificent win in the second ODI in Indore by 99 runs (DLS method) with the help of Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill's hundreds.

The big news ahead of the the upcoming game is that the India captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav are likely to be in the playing XI. They were given rest for the first two ODIs and are all set to rejoin the team on Tuesday.

Moreover, Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur have been given a short break ahead of the World Cup. Axar Patel has also been ruled out from the fixture. Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya too have not traveled to Rajkot.

India vs Australia: Prediction for 3rd ODI

With the return of the main players, India look even stronger on paper as every team member seems to be in top form. Ishan Kishan will most probably open the innings with Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin could secure his place in the playing XI as Shardul Thakur will miss the game. It is also highly likely that Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah will make their way into the playing XI.

Teams will prefer to bat first in the match. Rajkot is well-known for its flat track, and bowlers will not find any mercy, whether they are pacers or spinners.

The average first innings score at the ground is 312. Only three matches have been played at the stadium before, and all of them were won by the teams batting first.

India will definitely be the favorites and will look to whitewash the series, as the Australian bowling looks one-dimensional without Mitchell Starc, who could miss the last ODI due to injury recovery, alongside Glenn Maxwell, who provides depth in the Australian batting as well as in bowling too.
