India vs West Indies first ODI: Predictions, betting tips, lineups and odds

The Sporting News

After clinching the test series 1-0, India will now look to lift the ODI championship against the West Indies which is set to start on July 27 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Rohit Sharma and Co. will look to make the most of the series as they gear up for the ICC Cricket World Cup later this year. They will look to fine-tune the squad and might try out several combinations in bowling and batting as less than 100 days left to go for the marquee event.

However, they will be without Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant in the series. Apart from Pant, it is likely that the other four will be available for selection for the World Cup but Rahul Dravid will like to keep the backups ready for any eventuality.

With so much to play for, The Sporting News have cast our eye over both teams' chances in the ODI series below.

India vs West Indies 2023 ODI Series Prediction

India are definitely the favourites to win the series.

The likes of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be looking to score some big runs to boost their morale.

India's Surya Kumar Yadav will be the one to watch out for after he lit up the Indian Premier League (IPL) with some scintillating batting.

It is interesting to note that Gill, Kohli, Sharma, Axar Patel, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson have a strike rate of over 100 in ODIs since 2022.

However, Kohli and Sharma must be wary of Alzarri Joseph as the pacer has dismissed them three times each.

West Indies failed to qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup and with nothing to lose they will have a point to prove against the mighty Indians.
