Is Atletico Madrid vs Man Utd on TV? Kick-off time, match odds and team news

Erik ten Hag’s Man Utd prepare to take on Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in the first of two pre-season friendlies this weekend, as the Red Devils aim to continue their winning ways

Which club might Cristiano Ronaldo join if he leaves Manchester United?

Manchester United travel to Norway to face Atletico Madrid in their final pre-season friendly away from home this summer, as they look to continue their impressive run of results under new manager Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils have comfortably seen off Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace this summer, before a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa last weekend ended their pre-season tour of Australia, and now they prepare for their next big test.

And Atletico will be aiming to dampen the mood in the United camp by giving them a reality check of where they currently stand, although they only opened their pre-season account with a 4-0 victory over Numancia just three days ago.

When is Atletico Madrid vs Man Utd?

Atletico Madrid vs Manchester United will kick-off at 12:45pm (BST) on Saturday, July 30 at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Norway.

The last meeting between these two sides came back in March, when United lost 1-0 to their visitors in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie at Old Trafford.

Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Spain, United were hoping to put Atletico to the sword in the return fixture in the north west, but failed to do so as Renan Lodi’s 41st minute strike was enough to send the visitors through to the quarter-finals.

Man Utd will hope to lay down a marker with an impressive result against Atletico Madrid on Saturday

How to watch

The match will not be televised but United will be streaming the game on their individual club channel, MUTV.

Team news

Atletico boss Diego Simeone only saw his side in action for the first time this summer on Wednesday and will be focused on pumping more minutes into the legs of his first team players, with the potential for two completely different sides to be used in each half.

New signing Alex Witsel appeared off the bench in midweek but could be pushing for his first start here, along with midfielder Koke, while Antoine Griezmann could replace recently returned striker Alvaro Morata in attack. Luis Suarez, Sime Vrsaljko and Hector Herrera have all departed this summer.

Erik ten Hag fielded a team of fringe players in United’s training ground friendly against Wrexham on Wednesday, but is expected to play his strongest possible side against Atletico on Saturday ahead of next week’s Premier League season opener against Brighton & Hove Albion, as he looks to continue building up match fitness throughout his squad.

New pair Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez made their official debuts in that midweek 4-1 victory over Wrexham, with the former getting on the scoresheet, but both could be in line to feature once again here. Otherwise, a similar side to the one that drew with Aston Villa last week should start from the off, with Anthony Martial expected to lead the line.
