Isco's Union Berlin transfer CANCELLED at last-minute as club release cryptic statement about 'exceeding limits'

FORMER Real Madrid forward Isco's move to Union Berlin is OFF.

The Spaniard, 30, left the Spanish champions last summer after nearly a decade at the Bernabeu.

He penned a two-year deal with fellow LaLiga outfit Sevilla ahead of the 2022-23 season.

But after just four months, both parties mutually agreed to terminate the contract with Isco having registered just one goal and three assists in 19 games.

He looked set to be joining high-flying Union Berlin on a free deadline day transfer.

And all seemed to be going swimmingly after he arrived in Germany and underwent medical tests.

But now Union Berlin have confirmed the deal will not go ahead after they released a cryptic statement.

It read: "We wanted to have Isco in Berlin, but we have our limits.

"These were exceeded today - contrary to the previous agreement."

Union Berlin sit second in the German top flight, just one point behind league leaders Bayern Munich.
