Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski: Live stream, PPV price, prelims, TV channel

Christmas came very early for UFC 294. A championship super fight was not on the cards at the start of October, yet Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski 2 now headlines the company's pay-per-view event in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

It was a whirlwind few days for the promotion last week. UFC 294 lost one-half of its main event and co-main event, yet miraculously scrambled together a card that some would say is an upgrade. Makhachev was originally scheduled to defend his UFC lightweight title against Charles Oliveira but now meets reigning featherweight champion Volkanovski in a second super fight. Volkanovski put forth a spirited effort against the larger champion in February but came up short.

Khamzat Chimaev vs. Paulo Costa was Saturday's scheduled co-main event, but doctors refused to let Costa fight after he got surgery for a nasty staph infection in his elbow. An intriguing replacement accepted Chimaev's open challenge. Former UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman will make his 185-pound debut. At stake for the winner: a shot at UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland.

The rest of the card is highlighted by the light heavyweight matchup in the featured bout on the main card. Magomed Ankalaev is set to take on Johnny Walker as both men look to stay relevant in the 205-pound title picture where the title is currently vacant, though a bout for the championship is scheduled for next month. Ankalaev had a chance to win the vacant title is his last outing, but had to settle for a split draw against Jan Blachowicz. Now he faces the always entertaining Walker, who enters on a three-fight win streak.
