Islanders vs. Kings: Record vs. playoff teams tested, lines, betting odds, more

The New York Islanders have been poor against playoff teams all year long. Their record against teams in a playoff position is at 2-11-3 going into today's game. That's a horrendous 0.219 points percentage.

Again, that's a really bad record against some of the better teams in the NHL. Tonight, the Islanders welcome another playoff team to UBS Arena. The Los Angeles Kings and their 48 points in 43 games have them third in the Pacific Division and so presents a tough test for the Isles.

There's no secret to what the Islanders need to do to put themselves in a position to win. They're a skilled team with considerable depth. If they can roll their four lines, play a strong forechecking game, and get some solid goalkeeping (please no fluke goals in the opening minute) they'll be in a good position to win.

Helping the Islanders attempt to roll those four lines today will be the potential return of Kyle Palmieri. Kyle wasn't on with the extras in today's practice typically meaning that he'll be inserted into the lineup for the tilt against the Kings.

Now, where does Barry Trotz play him if he is back? I have to think based on his comments during the media availability today that Palmieri will play on the top line:

Betting Odds

The Islanders are still favored to win today's game with a -130 money line at the time of writing according to WynnBet. The Kings are sitting at +110 so they aren't being written off by the bookies.

Where to watch the game

Tickets are cheap on the secondary market for tonight's game so if you want to see the team in person you can absolutely do so. Again, for cheap.
