Today’s NHL Prop Picks and Best Bets

Fourteen games on the NHL slate opens the door for plenty of NHL player props, and we've found three plays for you to hop on. Find out why our NHL picks are loving Filip Hronek and fading Connor McDavid tonight.

The Thanksgiving holiday opens the door for a 14-game slate on the NHL odds board, with all but four teams taking the ice tonight. More games mean more NHL player props I can sift through to find the best value, and I've found three plays I'll happily take.

For tonight, I expect Filip Hronek to lend a helping hand, Marchand to fire away in Sunrise, and McDavid to struggle in Carolina. Find out why in my free NHL picks for this monstrous night on Wednesday, November 22!

Quinn Hughes gets plenty of attention as a premium defenseman — as he should — but the Vancouver Canucks have the luxury of multiple blueliners who can find their way to the score sheet. One look at the box score should tell you when the Filip Hronek odds give you his assists at plus money, you take it.

Hronek has 17 assists through 19 games and has registered at least one in 13 of 19 (68% of games). That equals out to roughly a -220 price, and we're getting it at plus money against a shaky Alexandar Georgiev, who just gave up four goals to the Predators.

Vancouver is no stranger to scoring either, with the Canucks leading the league at 4.11 goals per game. They also possess the third-best power play and the No. 1 shooting percentage (13.9%). Hronek might only play on the PP2, but he's on the top 5-on-5 pairing with Hughes. You know, the NHL leader in points with eight goals.

The likelihood of Hronek registering an assist is too high for the odds we've been given and I can't pass it up.

Filip Hronek prop: Over 0.5 assists (+105 at SIA)

Brad Marchand may be a polarizing presence, but he's also a competitor, and he'll once again look to get his revenge on a Florida Panthers team that knocked out his Boston Bruins in Round 1 of the 2023 playoffs.

After taking a look at the Brad Marchand odds, I'm not willing to drink the juice on his point props (-225) but I'll gladly bet on him to fire away whenever he gets the chance. Marchand is averaging 3.4 shots through 17 games, but when you peel back the layers a bit, you realize 36 of those 57 shots have come on the road (63%).

This is the second meeting between these teams this season since the Bruins' 3-2 overtime win back on October 30 — a game in which Marchy took four shots and found the back of the net with one of them. The B's will look to pour it on again and Marchand will be front and center on both Boston's top line and PP1.

Brad Marchand prop: Over 2.5 shots on goal (-145 at SIA)

Back in my day, finding any Connor McDavid odds surrounding points that had minus money on the Under was unheard of, oh how times have changed. McDavid finds himself in a dry spell — you know you're good when a point-per-game pace is a dry spell — and his offensive magic just hasn't been there through 15 games.

His point line continues to hover around 1.5, and while the Under is no longer paying plus money, I still have to take it. The Oilers captain has five multi-point games in 15 outings (33%), which means the 67% of games he hasn't done it should put him around -200 on this play... and we're getting -145. Road games have also not been kind to 97, with McDavid scrounging together six points in eight games.

Looking at his opponent, the Carolina Hurricanes are finally putting it together after a slow start in October. The Canes were horrendous defensively to start the year, but they've allowed three goals or less in nine of their last 10. With Carolina piecing it together on the defensive end and McDavid yet to catch fire, I have to play the Under on his points.

Connor McDavid prop: Under 1.5 points (-145 at SIA)
