ITV Racing viewers stunned by "greatest celebrations on a racecourse we've ever seen"

A scene-stealing Bahraini racehorse trainer became the talk of Newmarket after performing an exuberant victory dance on the opening day of the July Festival.

A stunned ITV Racing presenter Oli Bell said: “I’ve never seen celebrations like it from the man in the cream suit.” after watching the performance.

Ali Majeed did not hold back after seeing Jasour, owned by Bahrain’s Al Mohamediya Racing, run out an impressive winner of the Group 2 July Stakes.

He bounced around the parade ring, whooping and hollering, and then grabbed winning trainer Clive Cox before showing off some of his dance moves for the cameras.

Jasour’s victory at odds of 16-1 for the ownership team of Sheikh Sultan Al Khalifa was particularly welcome as the race was one of two sponsored by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Bell told Majeed, “The celebrations we’ve just seen are the greatest celebrations on a racecourse I think we’ve ever seen.”

“This is what I do, dancing, jumping, happy,” said Majeed. “Today was a good day, Newmarket, a Group 2, with two-year-old horses, it’s not easy.

He added: “I hope people enjoy it. The fans are happy when I’m dancing.”

Jasour, who has won two out of three races, could head to Goodwood for the Richmond Stakes which Golden Horde captured in 2019 for the same owner and trainer.

Cox said: “I’m so pleased for Sheikh Sultan as he is a big supporter. Following on from Golden Horde this is a real nice horse to have.

“He will go to the Richmond from here but he will have an entry in the Morny and we will see what is what.

“Sadly, Sheikh Sultan missed Golden Horde winning at Royal Ascot so this is a nice one to witness in person so I’m pleased he is here today.”
