Jack Della Maddalena (14-2) is just grateful to still be on the card after Sean Brady dropped out a week before the fight with an infected elbow. Gutting for everyone involved especially Maddalena as it had the potential to catapult him towards a title shot. He could not have looked better in his first four UFC fights cleaning up Pete Rodriguez (2022), Ramazan Emeev (2022) and Danny Roberts (2022) with beautiful knockouts before showing another string to his bow and submitting Randy brown back in February.

Josiah Harrell (7-0) bravely steps in on short notice. He feels up to the challenge as he does not have a loss on the record including his amateur career. He has finished all seven of his pro fights (four knockouts and three submissions) coming off knockouts last year over John Ramirez for the OCL and Tracy Reeder for CFFC and one only three weeks ago over Michael Roberts for LFA.

Harrell deserves a lot of credit for taking this fight. He has had hardly any time to prepare and is a natural lightweight, not to mention Maddalena is an absolute killer surging towards the top of the rankings.

Despite the size discrepancy, Harrell is a stick of dynamite and very strong. His only chance is to grapple, but Maddalena has the strength and takedown defence to keep the fight where he wants it.

That will be on the feet and in the centre of the octagon where he will show off his majestic boxing. A knockout is fully expected, but MMA is full of surprises.
