JACOB MALKOUN VS CODY BRUNDAGE LOWDOWN

After Jacob Malkoun’s (7-2) devastating knockout loss on debut to Phil Hawes (2020), he has gone 3-2 in the UFC. All his fights since have ended via unanimous decision grinding out wins over Abdul Razak Alhassan (2021) and AJ Dobson (2021) before losing to Brendan Allen (2022). He then beat fellow grappler Nick Maximov (2022) four months later in October, but we have not seen him since.

Cody Brundage (8-5) has been more active fighting twice this year already, but unfortunately for him, he is on a three-fight skid. He ended 2022 by getting knocked out by Michal Oleksiejczuk in the first round. He then got submitted by Rodolfo Vieira (2023) and outpointed by Sedriques Dumas back in June.

JACOB MALKOUN VS CODY BRUNDAGE PREDICTION

On paper, this is a battle of wrestlers. However, Brundage is more comfortable on the feet and will hunt the knockout. Malkoun also throws wild looping shots but uses them to set up the takedown.

We often see wrestlers cancel their skills out forcing a stand-up battle. However, after seeing Malkoun’s success against Maximov taking him down nine times, we fully expect Malkoun to chain his takedowns together.

Brundage is certainly a knockout threat and there is value on him as the underdog. However, we do not have faith he will be able to execute a strategy or even have one for that matter, so we expect the Aussie to grind out another decision.
