James Ward-Prowse Transfer Odds: Newcastle Favourites To Sign
James Ward-Prowse has led the Southampton ship in the Premier League for over three years as captain now, but with that ship sinking this season and relegation potentially on the cards for the Saints, is it time for their hero to finally move on?
Newcastle have emerged as the favourites with most Premier League betting sites to sign Ward-Prowse before September, as the Magpies are currently 5/2 to sign the Saints captain before next season.
Southampton are currently rock bottom of the Premier League with just 18 points however there is still plenty of hope with 15 games left and the gap to safety from the drop standing at just three points.
The Saints are currently second favourites to go down to the Championship (4/9) at the end of this season, with only Bournemouth favoured more to drop down this year.
Ward-Prowse has been some leader for Southampton for the last few years and this season has been no different as the midfielder is the top goalscorer for his team with eight league goals and two assists so far this year, with three of those being set piece goals (leads the league).
The Englishman has become a set-piece specialist over the years and is now arguably the most feared player in the world from dead ball situations, rivalling even Lionel Messi with his spectacular free-kick goals.
With their manager situation still yet to be resolved, Southampton’s season is looking like it could end with relegation this year and with Newcastle challenging for Europe this year it would be no surprise to see Ward-Prowse make the move up North.
