NBA player props Jan. 5: Bet on big nights for Luka Doncic, Tyrese Haliburton on Jan. 5

Luka Doncic assists props: Over 9.5 assists (+105 or better)

Doncic and his Mavs have been a nightmare for the Trail Blazers this season, with Dallas on the verge of a four-game series sweep.

Doncic has a pair of 10-assist tallies in the first three games versus Portland, the Blazers are ranked in the bottom half of the league with 26.8 assists per contest allowed and are also surrendering 49.0% shooting, the league’s seventh-highest figure.

Meanwhile, Luka, who has five double-digit assist tallies in the last seven games alone, can afford to play more of a facilitator with Kyrie Irving now back healthy.

Tyrese Haliburton props: Over 17.5 rebounds + assists (-125 or better)

The Hawks-Pacers game has a projected total of over 260 points as of Friday morning, so Haliburton could well be in for one of his higher-percentile performances.

The dynamic guard is averaging 13.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game since the beginning of December (14 games), and he put up 16 assists and five rebounds in his one game against Atlanta thus far.

The pace of this game and the fact it will likely be a wire-to-wire affair could significantly help Haliburton’s chances to hit this prop, as does the fact the Hawks are conceding the third-most assists per game (28.5).

NBA Same Game Parlay Jan. 5 Knicks vs. 76ers SGP: (+160 or better)

  • 76ers ML
  • Under 232.5 points

The 76ers are solid six-point favorites as of Friday morning and boast a 13-4 mark at home. Philadelphia also enjoys a one-day rest advantage over New York, a scenario in which the Sixers are 3-0 straight up in this season.

The Sixers should be especially refreshed, considering they’ve played just twice in five days coming in. Meanwhile, the Knicks, which are just 9-11 straight up on the road and are on a three-game road losing streak where they’ve lost by 9, 9 and 14 points, have taken the floor four times in the last seven nights.

The 76ers also rank in the top 10 of the league with 109.1 points per home game allowed, making a case for them to help suppress the Knicks’ scoring enough for the Under on a fairly large total to hit.
