Jerry Vainisi, GM of Chicago Bears' 1985 title team, dies at 80
Jerry Vainisi was general manager of Chicago Bears' 1985 Super Bowl championship team. He died Tuesday in suburban Oak Park, Illinois. Vainsi was fired after the team went 14-2 in 1986 and lost in the first round of the playoffs. He later worked for the Detroit Lions and helped create the World League of American Football. In 2001, he bought Forest Park Bank and became its chairman and CEO. His brother died of a heart attack in 1960. he is survived by his wife, five children and 14 grandchildren.
