Mariners Notebook: Andy McKay promoted to assistant GM; dates to watch

Andy McKay has been promoted to assistant general manager. He was hired by Jerry Dipoto in late September 2015. Before that, he was the peak performance coordinator with the Colorado Rockies and head coach at Sacramento City College for 14 seasons. His coaching and mental skills background helped him rebuild the Mariners' farm system. Before the 2022 season, the farm was ranked as the best in the game by Baseball America. As assistant GM, McKay will oversee baseball development at all levels including player and staff development, mental skill development and education programs.

Andy McKay promoted to assistant GM. Reds hired Collin Cowgill as their first base coach. Trevor Gott signed a $1.2 million contract for 2022. Baseball will hold its first draft lottery on Tuesday. Albert Belle, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Don Mattingly, Fred McGriff, Dale Murphy, Rafael Palmeiro and Curt Schilling will be elected to the Hall of Fame on Sunday. The first six picks of the 2023 MLB Draft will go to teams that did not make the postseason.
