Jets vs. Raiders Predictions, Picks, Odds Week 10

While many predictions for Sunday Night Football's New York Jets vs. Las Vegas Raiders matchup anticipate a low-scoring game, we're taking a different perspective as we formulate our top Jets vs. Raiders prediction based on the best NFL odds.

The season has just passed its midway point, but the matchup between the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football could play a pivotal role in both teams' playoff aspirations. New York (4-4) trails a trio of teams by a single game for a wild card spot in the AFC, while Las Vegas (4-5) is closely pursuing.

In Antonio Pierce's head coaching debut last week, the Raiders secured an impressive 30-6 victory over the New York Giants. Meanwhile, the Jets are recovering from a 27-6 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football.

Here is our best Jets vs. Raiders prediction for Sunday Night Football (odds via our best NFL betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Jets vs. Raiders prediction: Sunday Night Football

The Raiders played with much more energy and enthusiasm last week in their first game since head coach Josh McDaniels and offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi were shown the door. Running back Josh Jacobs ran for two touchdowns and nearly eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the first time all season, and the Raiders’ 24 first-half points were more than they’d scored in an entire game this year.

Rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell was also solid in place of the benched Jimmy Garoppolo, and there’s already talk about the Raiders going on a late-season playoff run, much like they did two years ago after head coach Jon Gruden resigned.

All that optimism in Vegas made me want to back the Raiders as a short home underdog versus the Jets, but there’s one big reason I couldn’t pull the trigger: Las Vegas’ inability to stop the run. The New York Giants averaged nearly five yards per carry last week against a Raiders front that allows almost 140 rushing yards per game, and that weakness on the ground should be exposed again in this game by a New York Jets team averaging 4.7 yards per run on the year.

Zach Wilson’s struggles this year as the Jets’ quarterback are no secret, especially after another ugly performance in Monday’s loss. However, he hasn’t been helped by penalties and sacks that have put New York in obvious passing situations. If the Jets can consistently use the running game to avoid a bunch of third-and-longs, they should be able to crack the 20-point plateau for the fourth time in their last six games and go Over the total for the third time in four road outings.

Jets vs. Raiders odds for Sunday Night Football

Despite traveling on a short week, the Jets opened as short road favorites for this Sunday night matchup in the desert. Support for the Raiders saw the line move down to a pick ’em price by the middle of the week, and some sites with the best sportsbook promos had even flipped Las Vegas to small favorites by Thursday morning.

The total quickly moved to the Under, dropping it below key number 37. Unless there’s significant support for the Over before kickoff, this will mark the fifth time the Jets have played a game with a total in the 30s and the third time for the Raiders.
