Edelman celebrates sports betting in Mass. with a big bet on the C's

Julian Edelman showed his faith in the Boston Celtics with his first in-person sports wager in Massachusetts.

The former New England Patriots wide receiver joined several other Boston greats as in-person sports betting kicked off at WynnBET Sportsbook at Encore Boston Harbor. Like fellow ex-Patriot Ty Law, Edelman bet on the Celtics to bring home the NBA title in 2023.

"I've got a big future, $11,000 on the Celtics to win the NBA championship," Edelman -- who wore No. 11 during his Patriots career -- told NBC Sports Boston's Tom Giles on Early Edition. "Let's go, Celts."

“I’m ready to make some money,” Edelman said before placing the bet. “I’m putting $11,000 on the Celtics to win the NBA championship. Who’s with me? Come on!”

The Celtics' NBA championship odds were +360 at the time of Edelman's wager, so the payout would be $50,600.

At this rate, there's a good chance Edelman's bet pays off. The C's own the NBA's best record at 36-15 and is the odds-on favorite to win the title.

Their quest for Banner 18 continues when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night.
