Justin Thomas enters the 2023 PGA Championship as the world No.13, but has slipped to 69th on the FedEx Cup board. That said, he's a two-time winner of this event and has what it takes to win any major.

PGA Championship first-round leader picks: Justin Thomas (+3500 or better)

With just one round to play with, you're banking on JT to pick up where he left off at last year's PGA Championship, and you're getting big odds to do it. 

To refresh your memory, Thomas shot a 67 in the final round to complete a seven-stroke comeback and force a dramatic playoff, which he won.

Granted, his game has gone a bit south this season, but he did shoot 67 in the opening round a year ago and has the ability to do it again. 

While we wouldn’t bet the farm here, it’s not bad value for the reigning and two-time PGA Championship winner.

Justin Thomas props: Top 10 finish (+280 or better)

While his numbers this year haven’t been JT-esque, it’s hard to turn down +280 for a two-time (and defending) champion to finish in the top 10. When Thomas is on, there aren’t 10 players better than him.

He's still mustered up a couple of top-10 finishes and if not for a back-nine meltdown that cost him four strokes, he would have had another at Wells Fargo two weeks ago (T-14).

Prior to the four-bogey barrage, Thomas had gone 18 straight holes without a square on the card and produced seven solid rounds of golf. We like him to bring his A-game once again for his favorite tournament.

PGA Championship matchup picks: Justin Thomas (+128 at FanDuel) vs. Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele is in excellent form and has every chance to win this tournament, but there could be some value here.

For whatever reason, JT rises to the occasion for the PGA Championship and has two trophies to prove it, so pedigree is on his side. 

Shauffele has not fared well at this tournament. Still looking for his first major, the San Diego native has never finished better than T-10 at the PGA (2020). He missed the cut in 2021 (+6) and finished at even par in 2022.

Despite his recent hot streak (back-to-back top-5 finishes), we’re predicting that history will repeat itself for Shauffele at the PGA Championship.

PGA Championship props: Justin Thomas Top American (+1400 or better)

Tournaments are much easier to win when you eliminate some of the world’s top players. So if you want a high payout want to avoid some big names, you can go this route in certain states. 

With the ‘Top American’ bet, Justin Thomas won’t have to worry about world No. 1 Jon Rahm and a host of other top-tier talents, including Rory Mcilroy, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Si Woo Kim, and a red-hot Jason Day.

Of course, he’ll still have to deal with some Grade-A American talent like Scottie Scheffler, Xander Shauffele, Patrick Cantlay, Brooks Koepka, and many others.

But if you're swinging for the fences, this is still more manageable wager than an outright winner.
