Justin Verlander agrees to sign with New York Mets

Justin Verlander has agreed to a deal with the New York Mets. Verter is coming off a season in which he pitched to 1.75 ERA and a postseason that included his first career World Series win. Jacob deGrom, the Mets' homegrown ace, will be 40 on Opening Day. Scherzer, who is 38, is the other ace. They are both dominant right-handers. They have six Cy Young Awards and nearly 6,000 innings on their expensive right arms. Since Scherzers’ first major league season, they are first and second in the majors in strikeouts and first in innings pitched.
