Kansas State Wildcats -2034 College Football Season Preview & Wins Total Prediction

The Kansas State Wildcats finished their 2022 regular season 10-4 overall and a Big 12 best 7-2. Kansas State is coming off the schools best season since Chris Klieman took over as head coach and will look for a second consecutive regular season conference title led by quarterback Will Howard. Last season Howard threw for 1,633 yards and five touchdowns in only seven games. Kansas State will have its entire offensive line returning including top guard Cooper Beebe.

Running back Deuce Vaughn is gone but DJ Giddens steps in along with transfer Treshaun Ward from Florida State. The receiving corps has a few question marks, as Philip Brooks is the only proven wideout starter returning, but it appears as though RJ Garcia II could have a breakout season for the Wildcats and Iowa transfer Keagan Johnson will make an immediate impact. Ben Sinnott, who is the starting tight end, returns after 447 yards receiving and four touchdown receptions last season.

The Kansas State defense was given a big boost when linebacker Daniel Green decided to remain for another season as he is one of the conference's best. Green has 219 career tackles. Austin Moore is also returning to play alongside Green and last season was the leading tackler with 87. Kansas State should also be strong up front with Nate Matlack and Khalid Duke at the starting defensive ends with nose guard Uso Seumalo between them.

Felix Anudike-Uzomah, who was a top pass rusher for Kansas State last season, is no longer with the Wildcats. Kobe Savage is the only returner from last year's secondary, which has the biggest question mark for the Wildcats. Kansas State will begin with a group of players tested at cornerback including Jacob Parrish, Keenan Garber, and Colby McCalister amongst others. Marcus Sigle, a transfer from North Dakota State and VJ Payne will help Savage at the safety position.

It likely will be difficult for Kansas State to repeat as the Big 12 regular season champion as they lost a large amount of talent in the NFL draft. However, the Wildcats will still be one of the Big 12’s best and if the defense, especially the secondary is able to gel into a strong unit, Kansas State will be a formidable opponent for any other member of the conference. The Kansas State over/under win total is set at 8.5 and that appears to be a fairly easy number to reach although their total may not be enough to win the conference. Final Win Total Prediction, Kansas State Wildcats Over 8.5.
