KARL WILLIAMS VS CHASE SHERMAN LOWDOWN

Karl Williams (8-1) steps up on short notice to replace Chris Barnett. He is fresh off his debut win over Lukasz Brzeski a month ago and looked well at home in the heavyweight division. He arrived off the back of another unanimous decision win over Jimmy Lawson (2022) on the Contender Series and has pounced at the opportunity to add a veteran to the record.

Chase Sherman (16-11) walks out for his 15 UFC fight. He has not exactly set the world alight with a UFC record of 4-10 but you can guarantee he will go out on his shield which the UFC brass respect. He is 2-5 in his second stint with his latest win being a TKO over Jared Vanderaa (2022) to prevent a five-fight skid. He quickly slid back into the loss column in November with a unanimous decision to Waldo Cortes-Acosta.

KARL WILLIAMS VS CHASE SHERMAN PREDICTION

If Williams makes this fight boring, a win is in the bag. He needs to avoid Sherman’s strengths by calling upon his own and that will be to get his wrestling boots on and pin him on his back.

Sherman is dangerous on the feet with ferocious hand speed, so like all his fights, he is a knockout threat until he gets taken down. His 66% takedown defence is a clear hole in his game and Williams has the skill, power and athleticism to exploit that.

Considering the odds and Sherman’s knockout threat/experience, he may be worth a punt but it is a long shot.

Prediction: Williams via Decision -
