Kentucky Derby: Epicenter can give Steve Asmussen his elusive first win

Steve Asmussen is the all-time leading trainer in North America. He's trained four Horse of the Year winners and was inducted into the sport's Hall of Fame in 2016. But he's never won the Kentucky Derby. Epicenter is 7-2 second choice on the morning line behind 3-1 favorite Zandon. Joel Rosario will ride him. He will be looking for his second Derby victory after winning with Orb in 2013. The horse turned in his final Derby work Sunday. It was raining last night. As mussen joked that he wasn't nervous. he is excited. to be doing this well with this much on line.

Taiba is the first horse since Leonatus in 1883 to win the Kentucky Derby with only two races under his belt. Mike Smith, the jockey, says the Gun Runner colt is as talented as 2018 Triple Crown champion Justify. Messier finished second behind Taiba in the Santa Anita Derby after a 63-day layoff. White Abarrio, Zandon, Epicenter, Mo Donegal and Charge It can't be ignored.
